Yesterday`s UK launch of Propertini, a free portal to agents, could come under threat because of the Agents Mutual model.
Agents who sign up to Agents Mutual must agree to use only one other portal. For example, they could use Rightmove or Zoopla, but not both. The ban would also affect other property portals, for example NeedAProperty.
Yesterday, Ian Springett confirmed to EAT that the ban on more than one other portal would extend to Propertini.
He said: `It would cover Propertini as a competing portal.`
Rhys Davies, of US-backed Propertini, told EAT that they were aware of their competitors.
He said: `From our perspective we are just focused on our goal of providing the best real estate search to support our users` search.
`We are confident that if we do so, and if we do so by following our principles, then we will be able to help our users find the real estate they are looking for.
`I think we have outlined the way things ought to work and it represents the very best model we can conceive. This has to be what we`re working towards.`
