Are the public finally beginning to love estate agents? Or at least, not hate them so much?

According to a survey by the Co-operative – haven't they got better things to do, like sell Mother's Pride, Angel Delight and digestive biscuits? – agents now come only sixth in the list of least respected professions.

Agents have normally topped ‘worst' lists fairly effortlessly, generally vying for first place with MPs and journalists.

But not this year. Top come traffic wardens, followed by politicians, which seems a bit unfair on traffic wardens.

Then come call centre staff, bankers and footballers.

Strangely, this year's top ten scumbags include taxmen, salespeople and lawyers – but not journalists.
