Abbey Wood/Thamesmead/Belvedere Branch
Abbey Wood, Thamesmead and Belvedere are situated within 30 minutes commuting time of Central London by British Rail. Plus only a 20 minute drive to Bluewater, Europe’s largest ‘out of town’ shopping centre.
The area boasts a beautiful park set around the historic ruins of Lessness Abbey and benefits from award winning schools, newly built sports centres and several yachting clubs located from Greenwich to Erith. There are also many potential future development plans which will offer excellent investment opportunity.
These plans include the Thames Gateway River Crossing which is proposed to link Becton to Thamesmead. If this project goes ahead it could (according to the Transport for London) be completed by 2010. For further information visit www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl.
Also, there is the Crossrail. This is an exciting and visionary new railway proposed for London. It will make travelling in London easier and quicker. For example a journey from Abbey Wood to Bond Street could take as little as 20 minutes. The plan is for trains to start running in 2013 with construction starting in 2007. For further information log onto www.crossrail.co.uk.
Finally, there is the DLR extension to Woolwich Arsenal. The latest update at present is that the invitation to tender was due in by early September 2004. It is anticipated that the appointment will be made early Spring 2005 with the extension becoming available by the end of 2008. For further information log onto www.tfl.gov.uk/dlr/.
These plans stand to make South East London/North Kent more accessible to Central London whether it be by foot, cycle, car or London Transport. In doing so raising the profile of the area and making many new homes, jobs and business opportunities.
All this combined makes Abbey Wood, Thamesmead and Belvedere an excellent area to live and work along with superb future investment for everyone.
